My refrigerator after the Farmer's Market. |
Tomorrow, I am starting a juice fast. I am very prepared. My frig is full of produce as you can tell from the picture; only fresh and organic. I also bought two cases of coconuts to supplement my juice fast. I have great juicer. I have a support system in place, so hopefully everything goes well.
I have no real goals yet for my juice fast, I would like to lose some weight and heal my body. I know that others juice fast to clean their kidneys or do heavy metal detoxes, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet. My overall goals is to juice fast for 30 days and then do whole foods for 15 days and ease into a Raw Vegan diet.
I was a vegetarian my freshman/sophomore year of college for about 8 months. I gave up because I wasn't able to cook for myself and got sick of eat the same food everyday in the campus cafeteria. I have been struggling with my weight for the last 8 years. I was really in shape and healthy in high school because I was involved in a lot of sports (track, basketball, and volleyball). It's been a struggle ever since. I have done 100% raw before a couple of different times. My brother is a raw vegan chef in San Diego, CA. I go visit him in the summer for 4-5 weeks at a time and do raw vegan while I'm there. The first time I was working out consistently while doing raw and lost 60 lbs. Last summer, I wasn't working out as much as I should have been and only lost 40 lbs. However, I almost always gained the weight back because I went back to a S.A.D. It's difficult in Iowa to get fresh produce and being in college didn't allow for the right type of friends or lifestyle for raw. This time will be different, it has to be. I have a couple of friends here that are interested in raw and living healthy, which should help make it easier. They are actually going to do a juice fast too but aren't going to start until November 1st.
I am really looking forward to changing my life for the better. Hope you all enjoy reading my blog!!
I'm excited to read about your journey. Good luck starting the juice fast! It looks like you are very well prepared! I am jealous of the contents of your fridge, particularly the young thai coconuts! Can't wait to join you in less than a week ^_^
